Another month has gone and Olivia will be 1 year old in a few days! I need to download new pictures - we have some great ones from a pumpkin patch and the arboretum. Since we moved the computer is so slow to download pictures, but I will do it soon.
Well, it''s been almost a month since I''ve logged on here. We have moved to Yakima and been busy getting settled. Olivia had a hard adjustment, but is doing well now, although we are back to square one with her waking up 4-5 times at night again. Olivia has started pulling herself up on furniture and is just now starting to cruise around holding onto things. Being a pro at crawling, she still prefers that! She tries to go up stairs and has gotten up 2 and then doesn''t know what to do.
I''m feeling good pregnancy-wise. So different from last time around. I feel very good most of the time and have lots of energy. I have an appointment with a new midwife on Wednesday. I had to find a new provider since we moved and decided to go with a midwife over an MD this time.
Well, our biggest news is that we just found out that we are expecting another baby in early April! So far, I''m feeling good, but it is still quite early. I have myfirst ultrasound on August 24th, and hopefully we will see a little heart pumping away. Olivia and this baby will be 17 months apart...busy, busy days for us ahead!
We had a nice trip to Alabama and Olivia loved her Grandma and cousins right away! It was HOT there-usually 95-100 degrees, but with the humidty index it felt like 115-120! It was no cooler at the Gulf Shore beaches. Luckily everyone had air conditioning, so we stayed inside for the most part. Olivia really liked the Southern foods like black eyed peas, cornbread stuffing, red velvet cake, BBQ chicken...
Well, today it happened. Livi fell off of our bed. It was her first fall-and of course totally my fault for leaving her for one second. I feel so bad still and it''s been 6 hours. She cried for a couple minutes and was laughing then...so she''s OK.
We went to Kauai for 8 days here in June. It was a good trip eventhough they received record rainfall in the days we were there...7 inches. In spite of that it is a warm rain so it didn''t stop us from visiting the beaches and other sites. Livi got her 2 top teeth while we were there and amazingly enough slept through the nights there! Once we got home she started up with her regular feedings during the night.
She has a bit of a "Princess complex" now...after 8 days of not being set down, you can only imagine. Who am I kidding, she had it before the Hawaii trip!
Livie started crawling ''scooting'' backwards now! Time to get everything up off of the floor!
She has decided that she doesn''t want to eat from a spoon anymore (actually fighting and crying about it), so we are back to just bottles. I''ll keep trying the spoon thing and hopefully soon she''ll start liking food!
Today Olivia started using her sippy cup for real! We''ve been "practicing" for a few days, but now we''ll try it a little each day! She enjoys drinking water...which will be a must for our trip to Alabama this summer!
Today Olivia finally rolled over from her back to her tummy! She has rolled from her tummy to back before. Next she''ll be sitting on her own...eating solids...crawling...walking...it is going too fast!
This weekend we met Uncle Mark, Auntie Grace and Natalie down at Seaside, OR. Auntie Amy came down late Saturday night also. It was great fun to see the girls together. Of course they are too young to "play" together, but they obviously enjoyed being together! They even got the giggles so bad one night that Grace and I were screaming with laughter...all this outside on the Prom at Seaside!!! Everyone walking by us was also laughing because it was so funny to see them laughing so hard at eachother! Just a sign of the days ahead.
5 Months old today! We got in late from our road trip and tomorrow Daddy will drive over a pick us up from Grandpa and Grandma''s in Yakima. He''s very excited to see us again. Since we''ve been married we''ve never been apart for more than a weekend.
Tonight while we were at Joe''s Crab Shack in Redding, California I noticed that Olivia had cut a tooth!! She has shown no signs of "teething" other than the constant chewing on anything she could get to her mouth. But she''s been doing that since about 2 months old!
Hard to believe that our little angel is already 4 1/2 months old! She is almost rolling from back to tummy now. Other things are going backwards!! Like her sleeping! She used to sleep 8-10 hours solid at night and for the past 2 weeks (ever since the night befroe she turned 4 months old) she has started waking to eat every 2-3 hours!! She doesn''t stay awake, just eats and goes right back down. I''m hoping it''s an extended phase...but it''s anyones guess!! She has always beena little girl (well, not when she was born) and now has started gaining over 1 oz a day!! Yeah, she''ll fit into all of her cute summer clothes!
Well, Olivia had her 4 month check up this week and she handled the shots like a pro...even smiled as we were leaving the office! She is a "little" girl, only in the 25% for weight. She is now 12 pounds and 5.5 ounces and 24 inches long. She actually only gained 1 pound over the past 2 months. She had a cold and 2 ear infections during that time and her appetite was less than normal. She has never been a big eater and doc said we could start rice cereal to up her caloric intake. So far she''s just been getting breastmilk, with occasional formula. I think I''ll wait until we have another weight check and see if she''ll gain weight with out starting solids yet. I really do not want to start solids this early. I know she is the picture of good health and looks well nourished, and the doctor wasn''t worried - but Mommy is!
Olivia is growing so quickly...the days are actually flying by and she is almost 4 months old!
Now she is smiling, laughing, rolling over and LOVES to sing!!
We are loving everything about being her parents...
love how she looks when she sleeps,
love how she enjoys her baths,
love her cute toenails,
love the excitement she shows when she senses her feeding times,
love to hear her talk,
love how cuddly she is,
love the look in her eyes that can only mean that she knows she is loved...
We love the fact that she is ours, something we created together... that we are a family.
A couple weeks ago we bought Olivia a new toy (as if our home isn''t already resembling Babies R Us!!). It is an exer-saucer and she really enjoys it. It is similar to a walker, except there are no wheels on it and the seat rotates all the way around. It has springs on it so she can bounce it and there are toys and activities all the way around the seat. It keeps her very occupied!! I''ll put a picture of her in it in the March album.
So far Olivia''s 3rd month of life has been a little difficult...she has had one cold right after the other, including an ear infection and now a bad cough. In spite of it all, she is still such a happy baby.
Today was Olivia''s first Valentines day! Both James and I went shopping for cards at Hallmarks...and unbeknownst to each other both bought the exact same card for Olivia!! Actually James bought 2 cards for Olivia! How does she rate? I have a box started for her with all sorts of memorabilia surrounding her birth and and early days - things like the hospital ankle band, vases from flowers, homecoming outfit...and of course these cards!!
Well, 1 day before Olivia''s 3 month birthday, we can say that she is purposefully grasping her toys. She has a little bee that she especially loves, along with being in her swing and bouncer and watching Baby Einstein DVD''s
Today Olivia had her 2 month check up with Dr Anderson. She got her first set of vaccinations and handled them very well. She weight 11 pounds 5 ounces now and is 22 inches long. She has been fairly healthy except for reflux.
